FacebookFace… book… Facebook Facebook… Face… book… I just join Facebook over a month ago and i am somehow addicted to it. Is Facebook another typical social networking community? Well… it used to be.

i’ve been getting invites from friends long time ago but i’ve never look into it because i thought … “Ohh.. just another Myspace, Friendster … Most likely i will not be logging into it after i register…”
So i never bother to create an account.

Joining the addictive Facebook

However, recently many of my friends join Facebook and keep telling me that it is fun. With peer influence, i decided to register and just take a peep. Within a few days, i’ve found most of my friends who are in myspace friendster also in facebook! This is crazy. I begin to update my profile and look around… then i was being superpoked, being bitten by vampire, getting gifts, got a fluff pet, confirmed friends details, being nominated for Superlatives, being challenged to a race, got a Ford Mustang, compare movie reviews and ratings, threw some turkeys and sheeps, received virtual iphone, got some growing gifts, received superwall posts…

Now i know why my friends said fun and addictive. Facebook is not just another social networking community to customize your profile, upload photos, join some fan groups and check out friends updates. Facebook is more than that! It integrates fun into your social network. Now you get to play games with your friends, compare score within your friends along with all other features of other social networking community.

Why did facebook suddenly take off so quickly?

Although Facebook’s logo looks simple and plain… but Facebook is not simple at all. The reason why it is becoming successful is due to it opening its development platform to 3rd party application developers. Facebook lets other content providers to integrate innovative applications easily to entertain facebook members. In my opinion, this is the Best Feature of facebook which makes it stands out among the rest.

Google is coming out with OpenSocial to try to fight facebook. I dont think this is going to defeat facebook yet unless Google is planning something else. Before that happens, with many high profile investors (such as Microsoft and Hong Kong billionaire Li Ka-shing) pumping funds into Facebook, i think facebook is going to catch up myspace at a fast speed.

Tap Into Facebook Social Networking Power

If you havent join facebook yet, register an account and check it out. If you are running an entertainment-related site, it is time to tap into facebook’s huge social community by developing a facebook app related to your site, creating awareness and branding of your site.

Eg. Freewebs.com develops Warbook, Streetrace, …
Flixster.com develops Movies app.
Rockyou.com develops Super Wall, …

If you are just a developer, you may want to start developing application in facebook platform. With the huge community, there is definitely someone out there going to use your application or play your game. For a developer, the beauty of concentrating your efforts in developing a facebook application rather than a brand new site is… if your application is interesting, it spreads virally like wildfire without the need of tough expensive traditional methods of promoting and advertising of your ‘new site’. When that happens, you can extend to a standalone website with more features.

Facebook Marketplace

Previously facebook developers are having problems monetizing their facebook apps. The following is a list of advertising networks focus and specialize to monetize facebook apps.

Cubics
SocialMedia
Federated Media
Lookery

Both RockYou and VideoEgg develop facebook applications initially and launch their own facebook ad publishing network.

There is also a facebook marketplace for those who wants to be part of the facebook application craze. Buy/sell facebook apps, hire facebook app developers. Recently there are also some facebook applications selling in digitalpoint and sitepoint forums.

EntrecardIf you have notice the sidebar on the right… yeah.. i’ve just sign up EntreCard to try out.

What is EntreCard?

It is consider your online blog “business card” in the form of a 125×125 image which represents you and your blog. The concept is to “drop” your EntreCard at other blogs who also has EntreCard widget in their blog. You will earn credit when you drop your EntreCard at other blogs and when other bloggers drop you their EntreCard. You can then use the credits to purchase 125×125 ads in the EntreCard network.

Check the site for how it works.

EntreCard is like an ad exchange network but with innovative concept. You get real valuable bloggers visiting to your blog, leave you an EntreCard. Then usually you will check back at their blog and drop them yours.

Currently, there is no official mean to purchase credits except by purchasing from fellow bloggers in the network. To me, this is like a game, visit blogs in the network daily to “drop” your EntreCard to earn credit and checking out who drop theirs into your inbox. It is actually quite tedious to do it daily… so i am not sure how long i will keep visiting… quite fun at the moment 😀

The thing which i dont like about is the ad only last for 1 day… no way to choose longer duration. And there is no good transaction history / log of how much credit i spent at which ad or how much i earn for ads that i run. I’m sure they will improve the system as time goes.

While reading at some money making blogs, i chanced upon a text link advertising network, TNX.net. Not sure what it is from the short domain name but it is definitely easy to remember. Curious of what it will provide, i spent some time checking out the site.

TNX Network

TNX is similar to other text link advertising networks, providing a text link marketplace for link buyers and link sellers but with a fairly different interesting model. TNX.net lets you sell text links easily on every page of your site or blog and it can be used with any advertising network.

How It Works

TNX is using some sort of point-system (TNX-points). TNX-points have monetary value. Advertisers can purchase TNX-points using paypal and use the points to buy links of their requirements in the network. Publishers earn points by selling links on their sites based on the quality of the publishing page (calculated with search engine rating). Publishers can then sell their earned points to TNX and get paid via PayPal, or sell their points to other TNX members privately. This also means that publishers can use their earned points to buy links in the TNX network.

Advertisers can easily create campaign in three steps.
1 – Choose subject, link popularity of websites, quantity and quality (PR) of pages you want to display your links at.
2 – Upload your link info.
3 – Your campaign is on its way to be moderated and activated.

Advertised links are displayed in a pool of pages of different websites that fits the advertiser’s criteria.

Publishers do not have to worry that their sites having no link buyers in the marketplace. As long as your site fits the criteria of the link buyer, you will be in the pool of selected sites waiting to display the buyer’s link and get credits for it.

Affiliate Program

A great system definitely have a good affiliate program. TNX provides an opportunity for publishers to earn more TNX-points by referring people to use TNX’s service. You will earn 13.3% of the earnings of your referral… for life! There is no minimum payout or confusing restrictions because you earn the TNX-points directly the moment the advertiser pays to your referrals!

Bonus

On top of the great affiliate program, after you join TNX as a webmaster and your website gets approved, TNX will fund your account with 5,000 TNX-Points absolutely free of charge! That means free links advertising for you!
Check here for more info about the bonus TNX-Points.

Conclusion

Hmm… i guess what TNX could probably means… “Textlink Network Xchange” 😉 Personally i think this is a very interesting ad marketplace, especially the part where TNX-points can be sold privately to other members. TNX not only makes purchasing a pool of links easy, it also gives publishers a chance to sell their links in their low rating websites.

Is your site performing badly with TLA? Why not give TNX Network a try.

I just happen to saw this picture while surfing the net.. so i decided to post about RSS stuff again.

RSS Ads

I’ve been reading some blogs and articles, everywhere is talking about RSS RSS RSS… This month, John Chow and ShoeMoney is having a RSS competition.

Actually RSS is first introduced in late 1990s, it is just becoming more mainstream recently. Probably due to more and more end-users being educated what RSS is and learnt about the advantages of subscribing to RSS feed.

Why User Love RSS Subscription

What i guess is probably due to the current state of email newsletter spam. Once a reader learn about the concept of RSS, they will most likely ditch the email newsletter route and fall in love with those sites providing rss feed especially full rss feed. The more they use, the more they want to use. They can easily control the subscription, which RSS news to subscribe / unsubscribe. They dont have to worry about the “unable to unsubscribe” problem with email mailing list.

RSS Advertising

In the past, RSS feeds typically free of ads. With new specialize advertising network focusing on RSS Advertising, webmasters have more avenues to earn revenue. The following is a brief list of advertising networks that provide you a way to earn revenue from your RSS Feed.

Google AdSense For Feeds – Beta, CPC

MediaFed RSS Publisher

Text Link Ads Feedvertising – Flat Rate

If you’re making some last minute efforts to get as many backlinks for your blog that you can for your website before the next Google PageRank update takes place, you ought to look into Text-Link-Ads. I joined last month and although I have had no advertisers sign up on this site yet, I did use the awesome $100 off coupon to have my link placed on other blogs, which has increased my traffic.

The only thing is that you do have to spend at least $125 in order to use the coupon. I just purchased $133 dollars worth of advertising on other blogs, and with the coupon I only paid $33! You can’t beat it! I hope that they continue to allow this coupon to be used for a while.

Be sure to use your $100 off coupon in order to take advantage of your free advertising.

Starting today, you’ve probably noticed something new on the site! Kontera has arrived!

If you haven’t heard of Kontera before, look for the text with the two solid lines under it. Hold your mouse over the text to reveal an ad from a Kontera publisher. What I love about Kontera is that the ads do not take up any additional space on the site, it just feeds itself using the keywords that I am already using.

If you haven’t already noticed, I’m not a huge fan of Google Adwords. I hardly use AdWords and I am thinking about phasing it out altogether. In any event, I just wanted to fill everyone in with the changes that are happening to SiteFever.com as it is continually being refined to become a better blog for everyone.
