This is the final installment of Ways Of Making Money Online. Check out part 1 (buy/sell products/services) and part 2 (advertising revenue). The last type of making money online is through affiliate marketing, commission revenue. You can usually see the result a lot faster than the route of developing a website earning advertising revenue. Please note… faster doesn’t mean easier.

Affiliate marketing, you earn commission revenue by promoting other merchants products/services. The merchant will pay you for a commission for a sale, a lead, a subscriber or a specific action such as zip code submit. An affiliate marketer with no established site, usually setup a brand new site target specifically for the products they are going to promote. Then setup advertising campaign through advertising network such as Google Adwords, Yahoo Search Marketing, etc, to drive traffic to the site. For a properly tuned advertising campaign, you will usually have more commission revenue than the expense on the ad campaign.

The best part of making money through affiliate marketing is… you do not need an established developed website to make lots of money. The worst part is the risk is losing your advertising money and the effort spent as you have to keep tuning your ad campaign until it works. Most people gave up at the part tuning the ad campaign. We have to keep in mind… those successful affiliate marketers lost lots of advertising dollars through testing, testing and testing until they reach the stage of shaking leg in front of the screen watching the profit figure grow. Well, every business involve risks. No Risk… No Gain.

Opportunities

Google Adsense Referral, Commission Junction, AzoogleAds, Linkshare, Clickbank are some of the popular affiliate network.

Conclusion

Web entrepreneur making money online do not based only on 1 type of revenue… usually combine multiple types. There are pros and cons of each. Some require more technical programming skills, some do not.

These 3 parts are actually meant for newbie who have no idea what are the avenues of making money online. There are a lot more complex business model to earn money online. Choose one that you think you can do it. Jump into it… whatever it is, don’t give up. Determination is the thing.

While reading at some money making blogs, i chanced upon a text link advertising network, TNX.net. Not sure what it is from the short domain name but it is definitely easy to remember. Curious of what it will provide, i spent some time checking out the site.

TNX is similar to other text link advertising networks, providing a text link marketplace for link buyers and link sellers but with a fairly different interesting model. TNX.net lets you sell text links easily on every page of your site or blog and it can be used with any advertising network.

How It Works

TNX is using some sort of point-system (TNX-points). TNX-points have monetary value. Advertisers can purchase TNX-points using paypal and use the points to buy links of their requirements in the network. Publishers earn points by selling links on their sites based on the quality of the publishing page (calculated with search engine rating). Publishers can then sell their earned points to TNX and get paid via PayPal, or sell their points to other TNX members privately. This also means that publishers can use their earned points to buy links in the TNX network.

Advertisers can easily create campaign in three steps.
1 - Choose subject, link popularity of websites, quantity and quality (PR) of pages you want to display your links at.
2 - Upload your link info.
3 - Your campaign is on its way to be moderated and activated.

Advertised links are displayed in a pool of pages of different websites that fits the advertiser’s criteria.

Publishers do not have to worry that their sites having no link buyers in the marketplace. As long as your site fits the criteria of the link buyer, you will be in the pool of selected sites waiting to display the buyer’s link and get credits for it.

Affiliate Program

I just happen to saw this picture while surfing the net.. so i decided to post about RSS stuff again.

I’ve been reading some blogs and articles, everywhere is talking about RSS RSS RSS… This month, John Chow and ShoeMoney is having a RSS competition.

Actually RSS is first introduced in late 1990s, it is just becoming more mainstream recently. Probably due to more and more end-users being educated what RSS is and learnt about the advantages of subscribing to RSS feed.

I’ve mention various ways of making money through buy/sell products and services in my previous post. This post i will mention the 2nd type of money making online, earning money via advertising revenue.

Webmaster

Create websites with informative content or develop a niche community. Sell flat rate banners, cpm banners, text links, newsletter plugs. Leverage on the ad networks such as Google Adsense, Text Link Ads… They have a pool of advertisers.

Blogging

This is a more specialize type of webmaster. Same as the above, earn revenue by selling links and banners. There are many people do blogging as their online career. On top on the normal marketing, promotion and seo, successful blogs usually have the same traits, exclusive information, entertaining posts, interesting personal opinion.

Please do take note, before you consider to take the above 2 routes, you need to understand before you can really live off as webmaster or blogger it takes lots of time and effort for a website/blog to be developed and start earning revenue from it. It could take years… just remember… it is not an easy route.

Domain Parking

Besides buying and selling of good domains. You can earn revenue by parking your domains. Successful domainer is able to live off by just having good quality type-in domains and expired traffic domains. There are parking services such as Sedo, NameDrive, etc… letting you park your domain and earn some revenue through it. However, this is not an easy route either. Domain names are like virtual land plots. You want to live off with domain parking revenue, you will need to have capital to buy quality domains with traffic.

Opportunities

Main avenue to find private advertisers is through webmaster forums such as digitalpoint, sitepoint. Ad network such as Google Adsense, Text Link Ads provide a huge marketplace for advertisers and publishers. For domain parking, there are specialize network to provide revenue domain parking service, Sedo is one of the largest revenue domain parking provider.

• Sell stock photos/images. Suitable for photographers.
• Sell Websites. Develop websites according to current popular niche and sell them.
• Sell your junk in your house! No more junk? Sell your friends and relatives junks! No more… sell other peoples junks. 2nd-hand market is a big market out there especially you are selling them without geographical limitation. It is a junk in US but could be a rare stuff in Latin America.

Resell Stuff

• Resell products. Buy products wholesale and markup the price by a little.
• Dropshipping. Similar to resell but it is better as you do not need to hold inventory.
• Resell webhosting. If you have a little more technical skill. Resell server and webhosting.
• Resell Content/Scripts/Data. There are many people out there offering resell rights of their content, scripts and data.
• Resell Websites. It can be turnkey sites that you get from elsewhere or website flipping. Purchase a potential website, flip it later for profit.
• Resell Domains. You can be a domain reseller helping others to register domain. Or register/buy potential domain in secondary market and resell it at a later point.

Find Products To Sell Online

Sell Service

• Freelancing. Provide programming, web/graphic designing, writing services.
• Script Installation. Not everyone is technical enough to setup/configure script for their website especially those open source scripts where support is minimum. This can be a niche.
• Support Service. It can be server hosting support, forum support, live support.. some people hire support because they are not knowledgeable enough, some just want to save time.
• Posting Service. Posting service is very popular at one time. (forum posting, blog posting)
• Data Mining. Helping others to gather data of a certain niche.
• Virtual Gold Farmer. Earn As You Play Online gaming has created this industry. Earn virtual game money/ items and sell for real cash.

Opportunities

2 main typical avenues to find opportunities of the above buying and selling are auction sites and forums. Auction sites such as eBay provides a huge marketplace for buyers and sellers. Such sites even provide easy tools to setup online store through them (eBay store, Amazon store). For forums, there are lots of large forums of various niche (webmaster forums, webhosting forums, automotive forums, gaming forums …). Specialize on a niche, you can easily find your target consumers there. You never know when a lurking visitor becomes a customer utilizing your service.
